We want to encourage cycling for all types of journeys, and all types of people. But it takes time and effort for us to create the right conditions for safe cycling, and to tell people about the benefits. We have a limited amount of money for this, so it is important that we spend it wisely.
Our main target groups are existing regular and occasional cyclists, women, families and young people. We will focus on journeys for leisure, to work and to school.
The Greater Manchester Cycling Strategy and Action Plan has been reviewed to update it in line with the Second Local Transport Plan. A consultation draft was made available in November & December 2006 and can be viewed here. Comments made during the consultation can now be seen here. Following consultation, the final strategy has now been adopted, and can be viewed here.
