Rochdale Canal Festival
Date:  21 July  2008
MONDAY 21ST JULY - FAMILY FUN BIKE RIDE

Meet at canal bank by Tesco's car park, Failsworth

11am approx return 3.30pm

Fun family bike ride along the Rochdale canal making our way towards Rochdale and back. Remember to bring drinks, snacks and your bike. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No booking necessary




SUMMER 2008 BIKE RIDES

Community Champions Programme

A range of weekly rides are being organsied by Mark Gumbs CTC Cycling Development Officer in Manchester to promote cycling for all ages and have fun.

EVERY MONDAY – PLATT FIELDS PARK STARTS – 14th July 08 (meet at park rangers office, next to toddlers park) Family Rides – 5pm to 6.30pm Girls – 6.30pm to 7.30pm Boys -7.30pm to 8.30pm (All welcome at family ride. Aged 11 to 16 for Girls & Boys sessions)

EVERY WEDNESDAY – DEBDALE PARK STARTS – 23rd July 08 (meet at tennis court, opposite bowling green) Family Rides – 5pm to 6.30pm Girls – 6.30pm to 7.30pm Boys -7.30pm to 8.30pm.

EVERY THURSDAY – WYTHENSHAWE PARK STARTS – 24th July 08 (meet at tennis courts, next to bowling green) Family Rides – 5pm to 6.30pm Girls – 6.30pm to 7.30pm Boys -7.30pm to 8.30pm

EVERY SATURDAY – BOGGART HOLE CLOUGH STARTED - 28th June 08 (meet at running track) Rides for all – 11am until 1.00pm Cycling for all – Disabilities, Special needs & Carers, OAP’S, Adults & Children. You can come along to the Family rides and join in at any time between 5.00 & 6.30pm.

All Adults from the family rides are encouraged to become involved with their Children’s or relatives Rides after 6.30pm. The aim is to come and enjoy the fresh air, meet new people and most of all have some FUN! Manchester Critical Commute rides ....More details

Manchester's Critical Commute happens on the last Friday of every month. July's Critical Commute - 8.00 am is on Friday 25 July 2008. The starting points are as follows:

NEW FOR 2008! Stretford Mall (Formerly Arndale) - Outside McDonalds 8:00am: (depart 8:05 am). You can join the ride on route anywhere on the A56 from 8:10am.

Chorlton Library 8:00am (deprt 8:05 am). You can join the Chorlton ride anywhere on Upper Chorlton Road 8.10am(approx)

Withington Library 8:00am. Join en route at Fallowfield Sainsburys at 8:10 or Whitworth Park at 8:20am.

Levenshulme Station 8:00am. The route follows the Fallowfield Loop off-road route to Sainsbury's where it merges with the Withington group.

Prestwich, Bury New Road (outside Pizza Express, junction with Scholes Lane) 8:00am. Our route is straight down Bury New Road so you can join us en route. We normally set off between 8:05 and 8:10am.

All rides finish in Manchester city centre at Albert Square at 08:30am.




ROCHDALE CANAL FESTIVAL FINALE

(11am to 4pm) activities include boat rides, canal walks, canal cycle rides, Mayor & Mayoress of Oldham, and lots more, fun for all the family. No bookings required.


Derwent Reservoirs Bike Ride

Location: Marple Railway station to drive to Derwent Valley

Distance: 9 miles with the possibility of extending it by another 8 miles

We usually park just short of Fairholmes car park on the free car park. Another very popular ride with gentle hills. The top reservoir road is closed to traffic (except for a minibus) and the views are beautiful.




Trans Pennine Trail/Denton bike ride

Peak Forest Canal/Etherow Country Park Bike Ride

Halls Route Bike Ride

Location: meet at Vernon Park car park at the bottom of the park - Caution!: low barrier

Distance: 20 miles

This route has been in development for a few years as a Stockport circular route visiting several of the Halls in Stockport. The route includes Bramall Hall, Bruntwood Hall and Underbank Hall in a 20 mile circuit. We hope to have the designer of the route along to guide us.




Trans Pennine Trail/Didsbury Bike Ride

Distance: Approx 8 miles

Frodsham/Delamere Bike Ride

Manchester Cycleway/Debdale Park bike ride

Salt Line Bike Ride

Location: Wilmslow Railway station to drive to Hassall Green

Distance: about 16 miles

This route visits some of the "flashes" in the area as well as using the Salt Line and the Wheelock Rail trail. Mainly flat with one or two short steep hills at one end of the ride.
