Fly the flag for Rochdale (9th August deadline)
Scores of the world’s top riders will come to the town in September to start the gruelling international race and organisers want the thousands of spectators to be waving flags designed by a local child of nursery or primary school age.
Any child who wants to take part just needs to create their drawing or painting in colour. The actual size of the flags is 170mm wide by 130mm high, so children should keep this in mind when creating their design. The theme should reflect the borough of Rochdale, the Tour of Britain, or cycling in general, or a combination of all three. It could focus on bikes, the cyclists themselves, what they’ll be wearing, the route through Rochdale or perhaps the starting point for the race. Whatever says the most about the race coming to Rochdale!
Entrants need to send their design to Tim Nuttall, Tourism Officer, Rochdale Council, 4th Floor Municipal Offices, Rochdale, OL16 1XU by 9 August. The entrant’s name, age, school and home telephone number and address must be on the back of the picture.
